In October 2018, after months of preparation and right in the heart of Sligo Town, Flipside opened its doors. More and more Sligo was becoming the most happening scene in northwest Ireland, it was the perfect setting for this new concept for the town. Many other cafes and pubs had burger offerings on their menus, but none were putting them front and center.
Flipside is a stylish burger bar serving top-quality burgers, prepared on the spot using only the freshest ingredients. Flipside never loses perspective of quality and good value for money. From day one, black and white branding and the tagline ‘Serious Burgers’ reflected the simplicity of what owners Paul and David set out to achieve. This is a burger restaurant with a trendy urban feel, serving a top-quality product.
Flipside chooses to work only with the best quality meat, grass-fed Aberdeen Angus beef from Sligo. Committed to creating the ultimate burger, they won ‘Best Gourmet Burger in Connaught’ in the 2019 National Burger Awards in their first year of business.
Together Paul and butcher Keith Clarke worked on a secret burger formula, bespoke to Flipside. The perfect balance of seasoning and percentage of fat and lean cuts. Acknowledging that a butcher’s craft is passed down through generations, the specific acquired knowledge for meat handling is respectfully left to the experts. The burger creations are left to us.
